Spiritual Direction

What is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual direction, sometimes called spiritual accompaniment, is a practice rooted in the Christian tradition. It involves walking alongside another person as they seek to recognise and respond to God’s presence and activity in their life.

A helpful picture is found in the story of the Road to Emmaus, where Jesus accompanied two disciples on their journey, listening, asking questions, and helping them recognise God’s presence with them. In a similar way, a spiritual director walks alongside another person, creating space for reflection, discernment, prayer, and a deeper awareness of God.

Spiritual direction is not about giving advice, fixing problems, or telling someone what to do. Rather, it’s about helping a person pay attention to God’s presence and invitation within their everyday life.

Although I am trained in spiritual direction, I am not currently offering spiritual direction sessions while I undertake counselling training.

Looking for a Spiritual Director?

If you’re seeking spiritual accompaniment, reflection, and support in your relationship with God, I highly recommend Sustainable Faith, the organisation through which I received my own training.

They offer access to trained spiritual directors and can help connect you with someone who is a good fit for your needs.

Spiritual direction can be a valuable support for those seeking a deeper relationship with God, greater discernment, or a space to reflect on their spiritual journey.
